Creative Crew Design Team December

It has been such a great honor to be on the Creative Crew Design Team over at Splitcoaststampers for the last four month. I had a great time, it was a lot of fun. But unfortunately all good things come to an end and so I published my final four projects this month.

This month theme was all about CASE (Copy And Share Everything): As we end 2013, let's CASE someone else's work and give them credit for inspiring us.

"Art begins in imitation and ends in innovation" - Mason Cooley
This singing reindeer was CASEd from LLINNYC3 http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...YC3%20reindeer. It had been on my "definitely have to case that one" list for quite a while. This seemed to be the perfect opportunity to go ahead and do it. The background was hard to catch on the picture. I stamped Merry Christmas over and over with Illuminate Glimmer Watermark ink for a subtle sparkle and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.
Holiday Focus: December 24th is National Chocolate Day.
While eating the best chocolate you can find, make a card using chocolate chip on it.

This is CASEd from the very talented Lorri Heiling http://www.confessionsofastampingadd...stick-pen.html. Isn't that the cutest note pad ever? A must-have for every purse to write your to-do lists on the go.

Scrapbook and More Focus: Make a calendar, to do list, booklet or journal for a friend to use in 2014.

This card was CASEd from one of Jennifer Timko's Artisan Wednesday Wow cards http://stampinonthefly.com/2013/08/aww-aug-4/. I just loved how the yellow flower pops on the black background. For the center of the flower I used the Simply Pressed Clay and the Blossoms mold. I heat embossed the clay flower first with black and then with Iridescent Ice embossing powder for the sparkle.
DSP/Color Focus: Modern Medley or basic black and very vanilla.

And last but not least I CASEd this card from Heather D Heroldt http://www.heatherspages.net/1/post/...-occasion.html.
Copy someone's artwork that loves brads or candy dots. Use candy dots generously on your project.

Creative Crew Design Team November

One of my favorite childhood memories is Christmas and every year we would get an Advent calendar. I love making Advent calendars in all shapes and sizes. The Goodie Gear Simply Created Kit makes it really easy. I filled the little bags with treats, used the bakers twine to attach them to the tree and embellished the tags that come in the kit. To make sure the tree does not look too empty and boring when all the treats are gone by the time we reach Christmas I added some Festive Flurry snowflakes in between.
CCREW1113SF -- Scrapbook focus: The last leg of our journey is to take that walk down memory lane and share a favorite childhood memory, event, toy, or treat on scrapbook page, mixed media project or with This & That!

I like "out-of-the-box" projects where supplies are used in a non traditional way. The "Tag a Bag" gift bags provide a very quick and easy way to decorate your table for the holidays.
CREW1113CF --Creative Focus: KITS! We have a mountain of kits to choose from, they make a class or a workshop easy peasy! The next part of our trip takes us into packaging territory, show us something with the Pretty Packages line on pages 158 & 159 of the main catty or any of the kits or packages in the mini catty.

CCREW1113DF -- DSP/Color Focus: Since we're starting Sweater Weather why don't we take our trip down that road first. Show us Chocolate chip, Crushed Curry, Sahara Sand, Soft Sky, Tangerine Tango all getting happy together.

CCREW1113HF, CreativeCrew, SUO or SUM -- Holiday focus: Did you know that November 26th is national cake day? Trip number three is to be inspired by the cake pictures and show us what creation one of these cakes led you to.
Below is the cake picture that inspired my card.

October Paperpumpkin Memo Medley

This month paper pumpkin was like a diamond in the raw. It needed a little polishing to shine. So I went to work with what was in the kit and then added some and here is my result. I think it turned out very cute.

My Memo Medley is mounted on a piece of heavy duty cardboard that I covered with Basic Black card stock. Then I stamped everything in Whisper White and lightly sponged over the surface of the black card stock to achieve the chalk board effect. I also added some mini cloth pins so I can clip notes to my memo center. At the right bottom I attached an envelope that I made to size with the envelope punch board. It can hold additional notes, coupons, etc. Most importantly I made sure I had a pencil holder and a matching pencil attached to the board so I don't have to search for one when I want to write a note. I like how it turned out and I had fun doodling on my chalkboard where imperfections only add to the chalkboard look that I wanted to achieve.

Halloween Ghost Canvas

Lately I am very much into mixed media projects. They are a lot of fun and you really can't mess them up. Nothing has to be measured or exact. I just keep sponging and layering and adding on until it looks finished to me. Here is my little Halloween Ghost.

For this project I Mod Podged some DSP onto a canvas. Then I sponged the ink onto the DSP. I started out light in the middle and went darker around the edges. After that I started adding the ghost which I cut free hand and went around it with a Sharpie. After that I added the lamp, tombstone and bats, Washi Tape and stamped on the canvas. I just kept playing with it until I liked the final result and finished it off with some Washi Tape around the edge.

Sprinkles on Top - DD#72 {Get Your PINK On!}

I wasn't really planning on doing another challenge but when I came across the Dynamic Duos website and saw this week's color combination I knew right away which sentiment I would use for my card and what the it was going to look like. Love the stamp set "Remembering Your Birthday".

Ink: Primrose Petals, Blushing Bride, Basic Black
Stamp Sets: Create a Cupcake, Remembering Your Birthday
Ribbon: 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon Primrose Petals
Accessories: Cupcake Builder Punch, Bakers Twine, Glass Stampin' Glitter, Framelits Circles Collection

Creative Crew Design Team October

I very much enjoyed playing along again this month. It was tough since "gaudy colors" for example are somewhat out of my comfort zone. Also the stamp sets I own from the Etcetera Suite don't necessarily scream "Sweetest Day" at me. But after all that is what makes it a challenge and that's what the fun is all about. Here are my projects for October:

DSP/Color Focus: Since we celebrate Halloween this month on 10/31, I had to choose Witch's Brew DSP on P 21 of the Holiday Catalog. If you don't have the DSP, use the color combo: Basic Black, Basic Gray, Pumpkin Pie, Summer Starfruit and Very Vanilla.

Creative Focus: Celebrate Sweetest Day (10/19) by creating a card for your Sweetest using products from the Etcetera Suite found on P 96-109 of the US Catalog.

Holiday focus: Wear Something Gaudy Day is on 10/17. Use your gaudiest colors to create a gift card holder. Find a template on the Tutorials page or create a new one of your own!

Scrapbook focus: October is Self-Promotion Month. Show us how awesome you are on a scrapbook page, mixed media project or with This & That!

Creative Crew Design Team September

Woooooohooooooo! I am soooooo excited. A little while ago I received an email if I would like to be part of the Creative Crew on Splitcoaststampers.com, a special SCS Demo only "design team" . Wow, what an honor to be asked to join the team. I would love to!

I had so much fun with my first challenge! I am totally in love with the color combination that was part of the challenge: crushed curry, coastal cabana, smoky slate and whisper white, so elegant.

Here are the projects I submitted for September:
