Bordering on Romance

For this card I stamped the entire image from Bordering on Romance on Whisper White card stock and then punched out the circle and colored it. I stamped the image a second time and cut out the flowers. To give the flowers some dimension I put them on a foam pad and rubbed over the petals with the Simply Scored Stylus in a circular motion. Then I attached the flowers to the image with Dimensionals.

Lego Ninjago Kai

Another Lego Ninjago Birthday card. For instructions on how to assemble the body see the Sensei Wu tutorial. The rest was cut free hand. The background is sponged in different shades of yellow and brown, using the masking technique. To make it look like a swirly motion I took some makers and went over the yellow areas in a circular motion.

Holiday Frame Christmas Lodge

I love, love, love the Christmas Lodge stamp set. For the snow on the roof I made my own puffy paint - see below for the recipe. After applying the puffy paint I sprinkled some Dazzling Diamonds on top and puffed it up with my heat tool.

I embossed the Holiday Frame on Cherry Cobbler Core' donations card stock, sanded it with the SU Sanding System and attached some color coordinated ruffled Scalloped Ribbon on the back side. I then attached the stamped image to the frame and and adhered that to the card with some Dimensionals.

Puffy Paint
1 part flour
1 part salt
1 part water

I used 1 tablespoon each.

2012 Artisan Award Entry #1 - Butterfly just for You

This was another one of my entries for the Stampin' Up! Artisan Award. Even though I did not win it was displayed on one of the boards at convention in Salt Lake City this year. I love the fold of this card. I used the Edgelits die to cut the the top of the card diagionally and then used the coordinating embossing folder to embellish the edge. It's kind of hard to see, for the large butterfly I cut one from card stock and layered another one that I cut from a window sheet that I embossed with the hearts EBF on top before I added the flower. A little sparkle is added around the edge of the butterfly with Dazzling Details.

There is a little sleeve that holds the card together.

Need For Speed

For this card I stamped the car with black StazOn ink and colored it using my blender pen. You can't tell from the picture but it's actually a spinner card. I punched out an opening using the word window punch. Then I took a penny, put a dimensional in the middle and another penny on top. I placed the pennies in the slot and glued the car on top so it slides back and forth in the opening (for instructions on how to make a spinner card see this link at Splitcoaststampers).

For the background I glued some regular household aluminum foil to white card stock and ran it throughout the Big Shot.

The envelope has been embellished with aluminum foil and a stamped car.

Stamps:           Need For Speed, Clockworks, Einzigartig
Ink / Marker:     Black StazOn, Real Read, Crumb Cake, Basic Grey

2012 Artisan Award Entry #4 Plantable Seeded Flower Card

Each year, Stampin' Up! selects 10 demonstrators to become members of the Artisan Design Team to showcase their creativity throughout the year. For this year's contest the application samples had to consist of five cards, three scrapbook pages and two three-dimensional projects.

Well, I did not win this award but I had so much fun creating my projects. Also I think I probably had more than my fair share of awards lately (New Demonstrator Starter Kit Contest, Stampin' Up! demonstrator magazine March 2011 Art Contest "mama & papa", Milwaukee Regional Workshop Wow, Stampin' Connection Contest Ideas 2012), I really can't complain.

The winners have officially been announced (congratulations to all of them!!!) so I can start posting my projects. Let's start with the first card:

I made this flower from card stock scraps and flower seeds. It can be planted and with a little care flowers will grow. How cool is that????

How to make the SEEDED CARD STOCK:

  1. Feed Real Red card stock through shredder or tear into small pieces.
  2. Fill blender about 1/3 full with scraps, add warm water to the top.
  3. Blend into pulp.
  4.  Mix in seeds.
  5. Spread mixture evenly over mesh or screen and squeeze out water.
  6. Let dry completely.
  7. Punch out flower.

Materials used:

Card Stock:      Whisper White, Real Red, Brights Collection Patterns DSP
Stamps:           Raining Flowers, Create A Cupcake, Tiny Tags
Ink / Marker:     Staz On Jet Black, Real Red, Lucky Limeade, Basic Black
Accessories:     Fancy Flower Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Jewelry Tag Punch, Bitty Buttons, Linen Thread, 1/8” Taffeta Ribbon Real Red, Blender Pen, Stamping Sponges, Stamp-a-ma-jig, MDS (for the “plant me and flowers will grow”), Stampin’ Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, flowers seeds

Tutorial Sensei Wu

One of the nicest compliments is when people ask for instructions on how to make a card. I received so many requests for a tutorial on how to make Sensei Wu that I happily sat down to put it together. Thank you everybody for your wonderful comments.

Here is an explosion chart of all the pieces I used and how I cut and punched them:

Punch Art SENSEI WU

I needed a birthday card for a boy who is very much into LEGO Ninjagos. One of his favorite figures is SENSEI WU, so I decided that's what needs to be on the card.

This was my inspiration:

And here is what the card looks like:

Celebrate Hearts

This is a very simple, easy and quick to make card with fun colors. I love SU's new framelits Hearts Collection (125599) that I used for the heart balloons. The clouds are punched from the Cupcake Builder Punch and then embossed with the little hearts embossing folder Adorning Accents (125601) from the Mini catalog. The stamp is from the Sale-A-Bration catalog and can be earned for free with a $50 purchase.

Milwaukee Regional Workshop Wow

I was chosen to present a Workshop Wow project at Stampin' Up! regional conference in Milwaukee on Saturday. What an honor! And I had a blast! I called this project the "Birthday Box To Go". The basic box is made from the Bitty Box die. I added an insert, a tea light candle, some embellishment and bling to the box.

Please do not attempt to light the candle in the box. Take it out and put it on a fire proof plate before lighting it. And never leave the burning candle unattended.

Here are the instructions on how to make it:

Wise Owl Graduation

I needed a graduation card and knew a few elements I wanted to incorporate for sure:

  • The "A+, Good Job, ..." stamp from the "Take a Spin" stamp set (121937 w / 122015 c)
  • The "Go confidently in the Direction of your Dreams" stamp from the "World Play" stamp set (120308 w / 122270 c )
  • The owl

After much debating on colors and layout I am very satisfied how it turned out.

LOVE Heart Box

Here is another box I made using the new Framelits dies "Hearts Collection"(125599):

For the top and the bottom heart I used the biggest die which is the scalloped heart. The red glitter heart is cut from a smaller die from the same set. Using Sticky Strip (104294) I attached some ruffeled 5/8" Organza Ribbon (114319) to the glitter heart. The rose was made from the Fancy Flower Punch (118073). The sentiment is "Outlined Occasions" (126014 w / 126016 c) from the Sale-A-Bration promotion that is currently going on.You can earn it for free if you place a $50 order.

Strawberry Box

Hi everybody, I know it has been a while and a new post is way overdue. Well, it's about time to get going on some last minute Valentine's projects. I just love, love, love the new Framlits that SU introduced in the  2012 Occasions Mini.  Inspired by Lynn Pratt's idea I came up with my version of a Strawberry Box:

The hearts were cut out with the new Framelits dies "Heart Collection" (125599). The top heart is embossed with the heart embossing folder from the "Adorning Accents" (125601). Both from the new Mini.
The leaves are punched from the 5-Petal Flower punch (119880). For the chocolate I covered some Chocolate Chip card stock with Versa Mark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The sentiments are from retired stamp sets.

I have another box for which I will post the pictures tomorrow, make sure you stop by to check it out.
